Shopify Theme & App Detector
See which Shopify theme a store runs, the original theme behind a renamed one, its version, whether it came from the Theme Store, and the apps the page loads. Free, no account needed.
How Shopify theme detection works
Shopify writes a small Shopify.theme object into every storefront page. It holds the theme's name in the merchant's library, its schema_name and schema_version, which name the original theme and its version even after a rename, and a theme_store_id that is only set for Theme Store themes. The detector reads that object, plus the store's myshopify.com address when the page exposes it.
Apps are found from the files they load. Theme app extensions are served from cdn.shopify.com/extensions/ with the app's handle in the path, and older apps load scripts from their own domains, such as Klaviyo or Judge.me. Apps that run only in the admin, or only on pages you didn't check, leave nothing to find, so the list shows what this page reveals and nothing more.
For store owners, every theme update and app install is a change to what shoppers see, and Shopify won't tell you when one breaks a page. MyKavo watches your storefront from outside with nothing to install. A MyKavo app for Shopify is coming soon; until then, see website monitoring for Shopify.
Know when a theme update or app breaks your store.
MyKavo re-scans your product and landing pages on a schedule and alerts you when a script disappears, an SEO tag changes, or a button you watch goes missing.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find out what Shopify theme a store is using?
Enter the store's URL. Every Shopify storefront publishes a small Shopify.theme object in its HTML, and the detector reads it: the theme the store was built from (such as Dawn), its version, the name the merchant gave it, and whether it came from the Shopify Theme Store.
Why is the theme name different from the theme it shows as the original?
Merchants can rename a theme in their theme library, so a store running Dawn might call it "Main 2025". The detector shows both: the original theme from the theme's schema, and the renamed version when the two differ. A theme with no Theme Store ID was built custom or bought outside the Theme Store.
Can it see every app a Shopify store uses?
No tool working from outside the store can. It finds apps that load scripts, styles or theme app extensions on the page you checked, and names well-known ones such as Klaviyo, Judge.me and Recharge. Apps that work only in the Shopify admin, like inventory or reporting tools, and apps that load only on other pages leave nothing on that page to detect.
Can a theme update or a new app break a Shopify store?
Yes, and usually without any error: the store still loads while an app script disappears, a section changes, or an add-to-cart button is hidden. MyKavo monitors storefront pages from the outside with nothing to install, and alerts you when scripts, SEO tags, or buttons you choose to watch change.
